Meet Julie aka Julz!

Howdy!!! My name is Julie Fields but I usually go by Julz.  :)  I'm so excited to be a part of TTT!

I've been married for 11 years to Scooter.  (No, that's not his real name & yes, everyone really does call him that! HA!)  We have two cutie long haired chihuahuas who think they are humans, Oreo & Cocoa along with two cats, Simba & Piggy who are stubborn as can be! ;)  We live in the super-tiny-don't-blink-as-you-go-through-the-no-stoplight town of Flovilla, GA.  It's way out in the country south of Atlanta and super quiet.  We love it here! 

In my 8a-5p world, I'm a corporate travel operations supervisor (basically I make sure the customer service is top notch and you're not heading to a business meeting in Timbuktu rather than Paris) and at night, I'm a Stampin' Up Demonstrator. I've been a demo for 2.5 years and love all things crafty!  I do try to combine the two when I can though for holiday parties and such! Once year we turned our cubicle into a huge treasure chest! It was incredible!!!  I recently began crocheting and taught myself not only how to make flowers but also a cute anti-bacterial holder!

I'm a self taught card maker & began my journey making my own wedding invitations when I couldn't find what I wanted at a reasonable price.  My favorite technique has to be embossing - you just can't go wrong whether it's textured or heat!  I have a more modern than vintage style but I'll try just about anything once.  I'm big on improvising if I don't have the exact tools needed for a technique.  A biggie for me - I like my stamps versatile!  I try to envision a million ways to use a stamp set before I buy it b/c if not, it's just going to sit there!  In the end, I'm just a crafty girl who loves some shimmer & glitter! :) 

I look forward to working with the TTT Design Team & embracing the fun challenges ahead!

Meet Hayley!

Let me just start by saying how excited I am to join the crew at Technique Time Tuesday, a lot of very talented ladies here and I feel so lucky to be a part of the team!

I am a Wife and Mother of two wonderful children, our son is turning 4 at the end of February and our daughter is now 4 months old. I have the most amazingly supportive husband a women could ask for who helps me to be able to do the things in life which make me happy. I am home with our children most of the time but have the privilege of being a Birth Doula supporting families through such a special time in their lives and I am also an Independent Stampin' UP! Demonstrator which is how I found these lovely ladies.

I am always looking for fun new techniques and projects to share with my fabulous group of stamping friends and in my search I came across Technique Time Tuesday blog. I am also on the Design Team over at Sunday Stamps. 

I have been paper crafting for about 10 years now (WOW!) and love to test myself with new challenges and techniques. Really looking forward to getting to know you all here and joining in the fun at TTT!!!

Mid Month Motivation: CASE from Karen

Hello everyone, it’s Karen P, here to remind you that there is still another 14 days until our current challenge ends.  I chose this months challenge and I hope some more of you will come along and play with us before the challenge ends you’ve still got another 14 days – so plenty of time to make something and share it with us.

Now I’m very easily pleased because I am so happy that our lovely leaders have allowed me to write and post on here today!  You probably couldn’t tell but I’ve never posted on our wonderful challenge before lol!

Anyways as part of my crew duties I get to CASE a project this month.  I love the entries we’ve had already but there was a particular project that popped straight into my head.  I needed to CASE the card that was made by one of our lovely newbie’s Adrienne.

Meet Claudia aka die amelie!

Servus (as we use to greet each other in my hometown Vienna)!

Blogland mainly knows me as "die amelie", but my real name is Claudia.
I am on the wrong side of forty and I live in Austria's capital Vienna in a lovely big flat near the Danube with my supporting husband and maths genius Andreas, my nine year old son Georg, our dog Bluna, two budgies and some fish in a tank.

I am an arts and crafts teacher but have been taking some time off the job, which turned out to be a clever idea, when we discoverd that my son deals with dislexia (which affords additional training and supervising his homework). So I proudly call myself a caring mom, housewife and zookeeper at the moment... (and I have to admit: I love it and do not miss my job at all).
Another good thing to this is that it provides me with a nice amount of spare time for some own crafting and painting, which I love to do at my (always crammed) big black crafting table in our "board-gaming and crafting room" ;)

I only started stamping in June last year, but immediately became addicted to this creative and interactive hobby! Being accustomed with many painting, drawing and crafting techniques helps, but I still have to learn a lot of new techniques one can find on this wonderful journey through crafty blogland! My favourite styles are mainly grunge and steampunk, my favourite techniques include embossing and creating timeworn surfaces. But I still keep discovering awesome techniques worth being tried out sometime (after I have tried out the ones I discovered earlier on). ;)

I look forward to creating with this wonderful and devoted creative team!

Meet Adrienne!

As you all noticed in yesterdays post, we've got some new gals that we need to introduce!  You will get to know a little bit more about them in their own words each Wednesday until they've all been properly welcomed!  Without further ado, meet Adrienne!!!

I am super excited to be a part of the Technique Tuesday Time Crew!  The first time I came across Mynnette's blog I was hooked?  There are so few Challenge blogs that teach you a new technique to try out!  As card makers I think we are the type of crafters who need to continually learn new techniques and ideas to keep our creations fresh.  In fact I don't think I spent as much time learning new techniques as I have since I started Card making on a regular basis.  From Stamping techniques, to folding, to distressing, the list goes on and on and that's what makes it so much fun!

During one of the more recent challenges I remember thinking to myself  "I'd really like to become a member of this design team, I think it would be a lot of fun,"  low and behold just a few weeks later the Crew Call was put out and the rest they say is "history"!

First off I am a Christian and have been for the past 20 years.  I live on the Central Coast of California,  I have a lovely family with three children ages 17, 15 and 10.  My oldest Jacob is a real diplomat with people, he has ADHD so he works really hard in school to keep up.  My second is a girl, she has very Mild Autism, she is fully integrated into regular education and is Gifted.  She is in a new type of school this year called New Tech High.  If you are intrested in the details of project based learning just Google it!  My youngest is my baby girl!  Came out of the womb cuddling and cooing!  She is smart and adorable, she has ADD but once on her medicine she really gets down to work and has straight A's this year!   As they are getting older and are more independent these days I have more time to explore and create with my favorite past times;  Scrapping, Card Making and Beading.  I have been an avid Scrap-booker since my oldest was born and just this year took up Card making and I'm hooked!  I am a part of two other Design Teams, Ooh La La Creations out of the UK and just this week I was asked to join Tammy's Scrapping Corner.  It is so fulfilling to see my little dream of participating on Design Teams come true!!!

 I also  help my wonderful husbandof 22 years to  run our Termite and Pest Control business, in between spending as much time as I can creating at my work table!  I think he would like it the other way around!  I love being a part of this wonderful online Paper-craft community because it gives me a chance to meet awesome and friendly people who love creating as much as I do!  Please stop by  my blog, say hi and join me, I would love to meet you!  I'm really looking forward to working with all of you very talented ladies!

Brick Wall

With all that taken care of, let's get to it! We've got another fabulous challenge for you this month at Technique Time Tuesday--it's called BRICK WALL!!!  We cannot wait to see what amazing creations you create with this tutorial!  PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CREATION USES OUR TUTORIAL OR YOUR ENTRY WILL BE DELETED.  If you need to review the rules, please consult the tab up top!  Now let's get started!

Brick Wall Technique

Materials Needed

Not all materials pictured.

*Patterned paper (or just cardstock)

*Black ink pad

*Versamark ink pad

*Black embossing powder

*Heat gun

*Ruler

*Scissors

*Scor-tape (can use other adhesive, but this was easiest to use)

*Stamp(s) with desired image(s)

*Embellishments, etc., to finish project

"How To"

1. Stamp you image onto your patterned paper or cardstock with the black ink.

2. Stamp the image again using Versamark ink--try to stagger it so that after you're done, it will have a shadow effect. Coat Versamarked images with black embossing powder and heat.

3. Take your ruler and draw horizontal lines every 1/4" or 1/2".  I did mine every 1/4" but then it took FOREVER to cut out and I now wish I'd done 1/2". Just a tip! ;)

4. Take your ruler again and make ticks at the top of your image every 1/4" or 1/2" depending on the width you previously chose.  Create a brick wall by off setting how you draw your lines.  See picture for an example.

5. Cut out the horizontal lines.  Be careful to keep them in order.  Speaking from experience...

6. Place Score-tape to the backs of your horizontal panels.  This makes it easier to adhere when you cut out the individual "bricks."

7. Cut out your "bricks" and adhere to a backing paper with small spaces in between.  You could also keep them close together and sponge the edges with ink to create a faux look if you wish.

8. Add it to your project.  I die cut my finished panel and then sponged the edges with black ink to add some extra interest and texture.
