It's my turn!

Hi, friends!  Thanks for welcoming my Crew--aren't they amazing?!  Well, it's not nice to make my crew divulge personal information without doing it myself, so this week you get to read about me, Mynnette Kitchen, the creator of Technique Tuesday!

Mynnette: On a Stampage

As you all know, my name is Mynnette!  My last name is Kitchen.  Everyone asks how to spell it, and I want to LOL when they do...and when I respond with, "You spell it like the room in your house," every now and then I get a really confused looking person standing in front of me.  I know I shouldn't think that's funny, but I really do!!!

I've been crafting for as long as I've been alive, but seriously stamping and paper crafting for about 7 years.  I LOVE learning new techniques and that is why I started Technique Tuesday!  Anything new is fabulous, except special folds.  They scare me.  But I'm working on it!  I LOVE all sorts of crafting supplies, but Stampin' Up! is one of my absolute favorites.  I don't really have a "style" per se, but I LOVE learning all sorts of new styles!  I especially love CAS style for it's dynamic simplicity, but I adore the pile it on shabby chic style as well and am trying to get better at it.

I've been married to my DH for almost 8 years and have an adorable fur baby named Hundie!  She is the best puppy anyone could ask for (even though she's 3 and technically too old to be called a puppy).  We've never had furniture chewed up, etc.  Her worst fault when she was younger and first with us was getting into the trash.  She no longer does this and we are just head over heels in love with our sweet little girl!  We live in Derby, KS, a medium sized city just 10 minutes from Wichita.

In addition to crafting, I love to read, cook/bake, cross stitch (even though this hasn't happened in a while), make digital prints & digi stamps, and sing.  I come from a very musical family and have been blessed with a gift and love for music! :)

So, there you have it!  I'm so excited to have a bunch of amazing ladies to work with and I am so glad to see each of you here sharing your creations!  Happy stamping and I can't wait to see your creations for this month's challenge--Faux Leather with Masking Tape!!!

Welcome Tracey Dampier!

This is the last week of our Crew spotlights--and I've got a real sweetheart to introduce you to today!  She lives to the north of us here in the USA and is a fabulous crafter!  Please welcome Tracey Dampier!  Let's have her tell us about herself, shall we?

Tracey Dampier: Serene Stamper

Hello! My Name is Tracey Dampier and I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario, nestled in picturesque amethyst country. I have been happily married to my high school sweetheart for 26+ years. We have a wonderful son and daughter as well as a fabulous grand-daughter, 4 yrs and grand-son, 1 yr. I am also "Mom" to my 2 precious fur-babies, Angel and Zeus (a pair of 6 year old Shih Tzus).

For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed working on various crafts, having hand sewn a double bed sized quilt using my grandmother's material scraps when I was 13 years old (I still have it). I first caught the scrapbooking/papercrafting bug in 2000 and have been hopelessly addicted to it ever since. I began making cards in 2007, and I especially love to use flowers, ribbon, bling and lace as well as a bit of sewing from time to time on my cards and layouts. My newest "must have" supply is Copics.

As my hubby and I live on an acre of property, I draw a lot of inspiration for my papercrafting from  my surroundings. In the summer I love to watch the assortment of birds that visit my feeders, butterflies in my gardens, bunnies and deer in our field and the squirrels that frolic in our trees. Winter time transforms my yard into a landscape of snow draped trees, twinkling lights and snowmen built by my grand-daughter. When I am not planning a new card, I am photographing my grand-children and fur-babies for new scrapbook pages. Thankfully, my husband is a very understanding man who encourages me to spend time working on this craft.

This is the first Design Team I have joined and I am so looking forward to working with and getting to know all of you. When you have a moment, feel free to stop by my personal blog, Serene-Stamper and say 'Hello'. See you all in Blogland! Hugs xo

Welcome, Tracey--we know we'll be seeing fabulous things from you soon!  Okay, so now that all of my girls have been introduced, I will be telling you more about myself next Wednesday...eek! ;)  Please take these last few days to join in the challenge and happy stamping! :)

Faux Leather Using Masking Tape Challenge

Thank you to all who played along last month with the Baby Wipe Reinker challenge--the winners will be announced on the 15th of this month!

September's Top Winner will receive 3 digital sentiments made by yours truly, and each stamper who's card is showcased will receive 1 digital sentiment made by yours truly! ;)  Here's the best part--THE WINNERS get to choose what they want their sentiment to say and what style!  If this doesn't sound like something you'd like, you could choose from some sentiments that I already have made. :)

This is how it will work--please email me within 5 days with the sentiment(s) that you would like and choose from the following styles: classic (ie Times New Roman type font), elegant (ie cursive font), whimsical (ie swirly/kid type font), or fun (handwriting font).  More information will be mentioned when the winners are announced!
This month's technique is called Faux Leather Using Masking Tape!  I know it's a mouthful, but it is an amazing technique and I love it!!!  I promise that it doesn't take that long, just give it a try and I KNOW you'll love it! :)

Faux Leather Using Masking Tape

Materials Needed
Not all materials pictured.
Masking Tape
Cardstock
Brown Inks
Sponge
Clear Embossing Powder
Heat Gun
Embellishments, etc. to finish card

"How To"

1. Add small pieces of torn masking tape to your cardstock panel until the panel is filled up completely.  It's okay to add some pieces on top of each other to cover up small holes.

2. Sponge brown ink on top of the masking tape.  I used two colors of ink, but you can make it as dark or as light as you want to.

3. Cover the panel with dry embossing powder.  You do NOT need to add sticky stuff.  The embossing powder just naturally sticks to the masking tape.

4. Heat emboss your panel.

5. Add to your project!

And now, some more samples from the Crew~
Please feel free to link up ANY TYPE of project that you wish using the above technique--we cannot WAIT to see your creations!  Please make sure you read the rules before linking up!  Their located under the Challenge Rules up at the top!  Happy crafting! :)
